From Haeundae to Gamcheon Culture Village (No Car Needed!)

From Haeundae Stay to Gamcheon Culture Village — A simple walking + subway route for travelers

Most visitors assume that Gamcheon Culture Village is difficult to reach from Haeundae.
But the public transport route is much simpler than most people expect, and it works especially well for travelers without a car.

On this day, I walked down from my hillside stay above Haeridan-gil, took the subway, transferred once, and reached Gamcheon without any confusion.

1. Walking from the hillside stay to Haeundae Station (10–12 min)

The first part is easy: walk down one quiet hill and you immediately reach the main street leading to Haeundae Station.

If you want to check the stay’s location, here is the Google Maps link:

This short downhill makes the whole route feel easier, especially for travelers who prefer walking instead of taking taxis.

2. Taking the subway: Haeundae → Seomyeon → Toseong (about 35 min)

This is the cleanest and most reliable route.

The transfer at Seomyeon Station is well-organized, clearly signed, and easy even for first-time visitors.
Once you arrive at Toseong Station, you're already very close to the shuttle bus that goes up to Gamcheon.

3. Toseong Station Exit 6 → Shuttle Bus Stop (3 min walk)

Exit 6 connects almost directly to the shuttle bus stop for Bus 2-2.
You simply cross the road and the sign is right there.
No uphill walking, no confusing turns.

4. Taking the shuttle bus to Gamcheon Culture Village (about 10 min)

The shuttle climbs the hillside quickly, saving both time and energy.
Walking this section is technically possible, but not recommended because of the steep grade.

5. Arriving at Gamcheon Culture Village — Walking the main route

The village opens up slowly as you walk in. The colors feel different once sunlight hits the walls.

Small turns and narrow alleys make the walk feel like exploring a maze, but in a friendly way.

The main viewpoint gives the full shape of the village—rooftops layered like steps.

Everything here feels handmade—stairs, murals, fences. That’s 매력 of Gamcheon

Gamcheon looks small on the map, but the walking routes loop through murals,

Main viewpoints, mural alleys, and snack streets are all connected in a loop, so it’s easy to explore without planning in detail.

You can follow this simple route:

Main viewpoint
→ Mural alley
→ Snack street
→ Walk down the opposite slope
→ Shuttle bus back to Toseong Station
